{"id":763,"date":"2020-09-16T13:13:09","date_gmt":"2020-09-16T13:13:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/westbrookcookers.com\/?p=763"},"modified":"2022-04-01T09:54:34","modified_gmt":"2022-04-01T09:54:34","slug":"fruity-flapjacks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/westbrookcookers.com\/?p=763","title":{"rendered":"Fruity Flapjacks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><strong>Fruity Flapjacks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ElectricKit Aga<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/westbrookcookers.com\/electric-conversions\/\">https:\/\/westbrookcookers.com\/electric-conversions\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>You will need<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1 orange<\/p>\n<p>1 lemon<\/p>\n<p>100g raisins<\/p>\n<p>100g sunflower seeds<\/p>\n<p>50g almonds chopped<\/p>\n<p>100g dried mango<\/p>\n<p>3 bulbs of ginger from a jar<\/p>\n<p>1 tbsp syrup from the jar of ginger<\/p>\n<p>200g butter<\/p>\n<p>100g soft brown sugar<\/p>\n<p>100g golden syrup<\/p>\n<p>250g jumbo oats<\/p>\n<p>100g plain flour<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Feel free to add or substitute different fruits and nuts\u2026pine nuts are lovely too. I never make the same flapjack twice\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>What to do<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Line a half sized roasting tin with some bake-o-glide.<\/p>\n<p>Grate the zest of the orange and lemon (avoiding the pith) into a large saucepan.<\/p>\n<p>Squeeze the juice from both and put this into a small saucepan with the fruit.<\/p>\n<p>Bring the juice to a gentle simmer on the simmering plate <em><strong>(<\/strong><strong>no 5 on your dial)<\/strong><\/em> and then place the pan at the back of the Aga whilst the raisins etc \u2018plump\u2019 up in the juice.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile add the golden syrup, butter, brown sugar and ginger syrup into the large pan with the zest. Again on the simmering plate and keeping a careful eye gently heat the pan until all the butter is melted and the sugar is dissolved stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>What to do next<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Mix together the dry ingredients and pour this into the large pan containing the melted butter mixture. Add the fruit along with any juice left over and mix together thoroughly.<\/p>\n<p>Spread the mixture into your prepared tin.<\/p>\n<p>ElectricKit Aga &#8211; set your temperature at 180 degrees and place your bake on the second set of runners down from the top with the cold plain shelf beneath your bake. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Keep a watchful eye, and if you need to slow things down, place your dish in the oven below\u00a0 (on the third set of runners from the top) which will be simmering temperature 110 degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Allow to cool in the tin for a while and then mark out squares with a knife (do not cut through onto the bake-o-glide as you will be most unpopular! ) If you can, leave to cool and set\u2026but half mine are gone in the first 10 minutes if the kids are home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Fruity Flapjacks ElectricKit Aga &nbsp;
