{"id":731,"date":"2020-09-11T12:52:22","date_gmt":"2020-09-11T12:52:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/westbrookcookers.com\/?p=731"},"modified":"2022-04-02T15:10:50","modified_gmt":"2022-04-02T15:10:50","slug":"welsh-cakes-on-the-aga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/westbrookcookers.com\/?p=731","title":{"rendered":"Welsh Cakes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Welsh Cakes ElectricKit Aga<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/westbrookcookers.com\/electric-conversions\/\">https:\/\/westbrookcookers.com\/electric-conversions\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To make Welsh Cakes on your electricKit aga<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>You will need<\/strong>:-<\/em><\/p>\n<p>50g butter<\/p>\n<p>50g lard (or use all butter)<\/p>\n<p>225g self raising flour<\/p>\n<p>50g caster sugar<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 tsp grated nutmeg<\/p>\n<p>75g currants or sultanas<\/p>\n<p>1 egg<\/p>\n<p>milk to mix<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>How to Make<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Rub the fats into the flour, stir in the sugar, spice and fruit.\u00a0 Make a soft but manageable dough with the beaten egg, and add some milk if necessary.\u00a0 divide the dough in half.\u00a0 Put out on a floured work top into two rounds, as thick or thin as you like<\/p>\n<p>Cut out into rounds.\u00a0 Set your hob to no 5. Cover the\u00a0 plate with Baco-glide and cook the welsh cakes approximately 3 or 4 mins each side, taking care not to burn. (it depends on how hot your simmering plate is)\u00a0 Serve warm, shake over with caster sugar.\u00a0 The cakes will keep for about 2 days in a tin &#8211; just refresh them before you serve.\u00a0 Serve with butter and jam &#8211;
