{"id":711,"date":"2020-09-09T10:31:15","date_gmt":"2020-09-09T10:31:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/westbrookcookers.com\/?p=711"},"modified":"2022-04-03T12:28:31","modified_gmt":"2022-04-03T12:28:31","slug":"yule-log","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/westbrookcookers.com\/?p=711","title":{"rendered":"Yule Log"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Yule Log &#8211; ElectricKit Aga<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/westbrookcookers.com\/electric-conversions\/\">https:\/\/westbrookcookers.com\/electric-conversions\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Serves: 6+<br \/>\n<strong>You will need:-<\/strong><br \/>\n3 large free-range eggs<br \/>\n85g\/3oz caster sugar<br \/>\n55g\/2oz plain flour<br \/>\n25g\/1oz cocoa powder<br \/>\nocing sugar for dredging<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>For the filling and decoration:-<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>55g\/2oz good Fairtrade dark chocolate<br \/>\n300ml\/\u00bd pint double cream, whipped to soft peak<br \/>\n1 tbsp brandy<br \/>\n25g\/1oz icing sugar<br \/>\nClean holly leaves<br \/>\nEdible red berries, such as frozen cranberries or wintergreen<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>How to make<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Place the chocolate in a bowl at the<br \/>\nback of the Aga to melt.<br \/>\nLine an Aga swiss-roll tin with Bake-oGlide or baking parchment.<br \/>\nWhisk the eggs and sugar together<br \/>\nuntil thick and creamy.<br \/>\nCarefully fold in the sifted flour and cocoa powder.<br \/>\nPour into tin and ease into corners.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>How to cook<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Set your temperature in your roasting oven to 180 degrees<br \/>\nPlace the tin on the second set of runners down from the top and cook for 7-8 minutes<br \/>\nDredge a clean tea towel laid flat with icing sugar and turn roulade out onto it.<br \/>\nScore a mark about 2cm from the long end, then roll up the roulade\u2026 carefully! Leave to cool.<br \/>\nWhisk the cream, brandy and icing sugar together.<br \/>\nWhen cool, unroll the roulade and spread the cream all over it<br \/>\nRe-roll and place on a serving dish; dust with a little more icing sugar.<br \/>\nDrizzle the top decoratively with the melted chocolate.<br \/>\nDip holly leaves in the remainder of the chocolate and refrigerate to set.<br \/>\nThese are lovely as decoration but not to eat!<br \/>\nRefrigerate for 2 hours before serving.
