September jam -There is something about foraging for free fruit that I love. This year\u2019s harvest is damsons\u2026but also black berries.The blackberries rarely make it to the maslin pan though\u2026especially if foraging with Frankie, my middle grand-son, aged 3.\u00a0\u00a0 He loves to try the fruit at source:\u00a0 \u2018just tasting Nanna\u2019.<\/p>\n

Jam making. I\u2019ve got a good tip to share for this: However much jam you are making;\u00a0 washing , drying and sterilising\u00a0 the jam jars can be a tedious task. So wash the jam jars in very hot water and place them into the simmering oven to dry. (Put them onto a baking tray for ease of movement).<\/p>\n

Job done.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m thinking ahead with this jam and making homemade Christmas hampers for friends and family. These jars will be joining the sloe gin in the cupboard ready for December assembly.\u00a0 I\u2019ll add Christmas shortbread, waxed cloth food wraps, that I have now perfected, and home-made cloth make up removal pads! I\u2019m happy to share all of the above know how\u2026.but you\u2019ll have to ask!<\/p>\n
