{"id":1416,"date":"2021-02-11T15:42:34","date_gmt":"2021-02-11T15:42:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/westbrookcookers.com\/?p=1416"},"modified":"2022-03-11T14:55:37","modified_gmt":"2022-03-11T14:55:37","slug":"electrickit-cooking-carmalitas-a-delicious-recipe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/westbrookcookers.com\/?p=1416","title":{"rendered":"Carmalitas Recipe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><strong>A delicious recipe ideal for Electrikit Aga owners &#8211; set your digital display to 180 degrees and bake on the second set of runners.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/westbrookcookers.com\/electric-conversions\">https:\/\/westbrookcookers.com\/electric-conversions<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A DELICIOUS RECIPE FOR CARMALITAS &#8211; ElectricKit Agas<\/p>\n<p>The following recipe makes 15 Squares<\/p>\n<p>Tin: 30cm x 20cm<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>ElectricKit Aga Cookers &#8211; set your temperature digitally to 180 degrees<\/p>\n<p>Carmalitas cooked on an ElectricKit Aga<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>225g whole rolled oats<\/p>\n<p>250g plain flour<\/p>\n<p>350g light soft brown sugar<\/p>\n<p>1 tsp bicarb<\/p>\n<p>50g unsalted butter melted<\/p>\n<p>100g dark chocolate chips<\/p>\n<p>150g 72% dark chocolate roughly chopped<\/p>\n<p>100g pecans roughly chopped<\/p>\n<p>1 x 397g tin Carnation Caramel<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>First, combine the oats, flour, sugar, bicarb and 1 tsp salt in a bowl<\/p>\n<p>Following on, stir in the melted butter.<\/p>\n<p>Spoon two thirds of the mixture into the tin and press down firmly.<\/p>\n<p>Liberally scatter over the chocolate chips, dark chocolate pieces and the pecans.\u00a0 Furthermore, drizzle 347g of the caramel over the mixture<\/p>\n<p>Finally, sprinkle over the remaining oat mixture to cover.<\/p>\n<p>Bake for 20\u201325 mins until golden. Place the cold plain shelf below the dish to prevent over cooking of the base of the dish.<\/p>\n<p>Leave to cool completely in the tin (this takes ages because of the hot caramel!) before turning out and cutting up.\u00a0 When your mixture is cold, turn out onto a board to cut into even squares.\u00a0 This is quite a rich recipe, so some may like their squares to be small.\u00a0 Or some may like their squares to be large!<\/p>\n<p>You can drizzle with some more melted chocolate and the remaining caramel but I don\u2019t think it needs it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A delicious recipe ideal for Electrikit Aga owners -
