A trifle is a delicious and wondrous thing.\u00a0 It contains custard, sherry, fruit and jelly.\u00a0 The following trifle is a store cupboard trifle, so you don’t have to make your own custard or chop the fruit.\u00a0 \u00a0This trifle is so very tasty and very quick to construct.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

YOU WILL NEED:-<\/strong><\/p>\n

A packet of trifle sponges – available from most supermarkets in the baking isle<\/p>\n

One packet of strawberry or raspberry jelly<\/p>\n

In addition, a tin of peaches, fruit cocktail (this is best) or raspberries (drain and mix the juice into the jelly)<\/p>\n

Sherry is important to make this trifle delicious – preferably sweet – add about 3 tablespoons<\/p>\n

Ready made custard is creamy and delicious and saves a lot of effort<\/p>\n

Some flaked almonds (about a handful)<\/p>\n

A couple of dessert spoonfuls of strawberry or raspberry jam<\/p>\n

THIS IS WHAT YOU DO:<\/strong>–<\/p>\n

Place the sponges in the bottom of a large bowl – it is up to you how many you use but break them up a bit<\/p>\n

Slosh on about 3 tablespoons of the sherry and let this soak into the sponge<\/p>\n

In addition, add a couple of dessertspoons of the jam and spread over the sponge mixture<\/p>\n

Now you need to drain the fruit from its juice and add to the bowl<\/p>\n

WHAT TO DO NEXT<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jelly is next – boil a kettle and make the jelly from the instructions on the packet, using the juice from the tin of fruit as part of the cold water<\/p>\n

When the jelly has cooled add it to the mixture<\/p>\n

Place everything in the bowl to set in the fridge<\/p>\n

Finally, add the custard on top,how about piping some cream in splodges on the top of the custard?<\/p>\n

Sprinkle with a handful of flaked almonds.\u00a0 Leave in the fridge until ready to serve<\/p>\n

Delicious!<\/p>\n
